Programming Assignment 2 (instructions and submission) This is an individual assignment, and the solutions that you submit for all of the tasks must be your own. Copying solutions from other students, relatives, friends, or strangers on the internet is plagiarism and treated as academic misconduct by La Trobe University. Plagiarism includes copying solutions and making superficial changes to the code (such as renaming variables or editing comments). The penalty for academic misconduct can be as serious as expulsion from the university. Purpose/Rationale The purpose of this assessment is to put into practice the programming skills that you have learnt via the topic content and lab sessions. You will be given the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to analyse problems, apply basic programming constructs to design computational solutions, use basic data structures, and implement executable code in the Python programming language. Task Details This programming assignment focuses on content from Topic 1–Topic 9, with a higher weighting of marks applied to concepts from the later topics. You are expected to use the knowledge learnt from those topics to design and implement working Python solutions to programming problems. Instructions This programming assignment takes the form of a notebook, much like those which you have already encountered during your lab sessions. You are required to read through the exercises in the notebook and place your solutions in code cells as instructed in the notebook itself. We will be executing your code to make sure that it runs correctly, so you are strongly encouraged to test your solutions before submitting. Please refer to the Lab Session Guide for information about how to access and complete the assignment using either the online or offline method. To complete this assignment online (the preferred method), use the following link. Note that this requires you to have a Google account. Programming Assignment 2 Online on Google Colab Feedback Once your assignment has been marked, feedback will be provided in the form of a comprehensive marking guide. This will include a breakdown of where marks have been allocated for each component of each task. Use the feedback from the marking guide to identify areas for improvement. Submission Once you have finished the assignment, you must download your completed notebook and submit it using the form on this web page. A correctly downloaded notebook will have the “.ipynb” file extension. You can download your completed notebook from Google Colab by clicking “File” -> “Download .ipynb”. Please leave yourself enough time to upload your assignment solution and click the submit button before the submission deadline. If you leave submission to the last minute, or forget to press the submit button, you may end up losing marks. Submission status Attempt number This is attempt 1.
